NYFW Fall 08: Marc Jacobs
Only Jacobs could be confident enough to show all his cards at once. The designer staged his runway show in reverse—models paraded by crowds dressed in the spring line before each girl walked one by one—then continued the concept of disclosure in his clothes. Versions of New Look–inspired gowns, lingerie-esque cocktail numbers, satin blouses, and chiffon pants were featured—albeit with a twist. Many had swaths of fabric removed or nude tulle panels that revealed a flash of skin or retro underpinning.
